Pets receive pre-anesthetic injection and the anesthetic used during surgery is isoflurane gas. Sutures are self-dissolving so no suture removal is required.
We do not give vaccinations the same day as surgery or multiple vaccinations on the same day due to the added stress to the pet's immune system. If your pet is due to be vaccinated, please do that 3-4 wks before surgery or 3-4 wks after surgery. We do not do annual vaccinations......we follow the 3 yr protocol.
Vaccinations available: parvo/distemper, "mercury free" rabies, bordetella, feline distemper - $12 each.
If your dog has been vaccinated for parvo/distemper as a puppy and had the 1 yr booster, we do not recommend annual vaccinations for parvo/distemper. We recommend a titer test to see if they are showing sufficient immunity. All vet schools in the U.S. are now recommending the 3-yr vaccination protocol for rabies and other diseases rather than annual vaccinations. Bring proof of 2 prior rabies vaccinations or tell us the vet clinic where your dog was vaccinated and we will give the 3-yr rabies vaccination.
Note: We are now using the rabies vaccine without the mercury containing preservative. This preservative has been removed from vaccines given to children and we feel it is best not to have it in the vaccines for dogs.
Purchasing prescription flea/tick preventatives:
We must have a record of your cat/dog before we can sell you prescription medicine (i.e. Credelio, Interceptor Plus, Provecta II). This means your pet must be brought into the clinic for visit and weight check. We do not charge for the visit, but you will need to call in advance. This is per FDA regulations on the sale of prescription medications.
We encourage everyone to have their dogs tested for heartworms and to keep them on preventative. We will heartworm test your dog for $10 and offer the Interceptor Plus preventative at very competative prices. Interceptor takes care of intestinal worms in addition to heartworms!
We offer , Credelio (for dogs) and Provecta II (for cats), for treatment of fleas/ticks. Check with the clinic for prices. You must bring your pet in for an initial visit in order to purchase the prescription medications.
We will also provide the following if requested:
Deworming - based on pet's weight
Heartworm test- $10
Feline leukemia test- $ 25
Nail clip- $5
Please bring proof your pet has had a prior rabies vaccination. We will give the 3-yr rabies vaccination if you have proof. This means you don't have to re-vaccinate your pet for 3 years.
